Dean Friedman's
Chanukah Concert for Kids

Singer/songwriter/recording artist, Dean Friedman, known to popular music lovers for his top-40 hits Ariel, Lucky Stars and McDonald’s Girl, will be performing his Chanukah Concert for Kids in the NY/NJ/CT area this Chanukah season, 2004. Friedman is joined on stage by a cast of performers and a giant potato latke puppet.

The Chanukah Concert for Kids is an hour long, music filled, fun Chanukah celebration featuring Larry the Latke (a dancing potato latke),  an assortment of silly props – huge dreidels and menorah – and colorful costumes. The show includes lots of silly Chanukah songs such as, If I Was A Dreidel, Love My Latkes and Some Say Chanukah, plus local Hebrew School favorite, A Million Matzoh Balls.

The Chanukah Concert for Kids emphasizes audience participation for the kids, according to Friedman, “We bring lots of kids out of the audience, dress them up in costume and they help us perform funny skits and act out the story of Chanukah. There are plenty of silly sing-alongs too. We like to get everybody involved.”

There is also always the possibility of a guest appearance by Friedman’s old Hebrew School teacher, the learned scholar, Rabbi Schlamazel, who reportedly hails from the tiny Russian village of Chelm. Rabbi Schlamazel (who bears a striking resemblance to Friedman in a long grey beard) is purported to be the wisest rabbi in the world although this is a fact that is difficult to confirm as he’s always getting lost and tends to be somewhat forgetful.

The Chanukah show, in its 14th year in production, has proven to be a popular favorite with kids throughout the NY/NJ/CT area.

Dean Friedman’s Chanukah Concert for Kids is a guaranteed fun-filled hour of holiday entertainment for the entire family.!
